In the 50's and 60's when I was growing up glamour, pin-up and nudie seemed to be set up by and for older underworld types. The images were always slightly retro - pale Marilyns and smudgy Betties but no Mary Quant models! Not until the late 70's when a few grainy pictures of pre-Blondie Debbie showed up would erotic catch up with rock 'n' roll.
Situationism was the thing by the time I jumped into the punk music business with both chisel toe'ed feet fresh out of art school, with more of an eye for black and while sleaze than political heroes. Retaining artistic control by recording for indie labels and working closely with graphic designers, I have found the use of girlie pic's, j.d. book covers, locomotive photo's, skull 'n' crossbones, and tattoo art to be time-enduring beyond the usual band potrait.
