Where's my order?

Sale Page I have limited space for stock so you'll always find reduced price items up for grabs. Check out the Sale page for a bargain.

Please read the sizing information carefully. The size charts for each brand can be found here. You will need to measure yourself rather than go by your usual dress size to ensure a perfect fit! The approx UK size is only there as a guide.

Payment: I don't have a credit card machine so can only take payment the following ways: PayPal - using your PayPal account or your bank/credit card or Nochex (now available to international as well as UK shoppers). You don't need an account and can pay by credit or debit card (including Solo). If you live in the UK and want to pay by cheque or postal order, please contact me (rather than add things to your basket!). In some circumstances, I will accept alternative forms of payment from international shoppers (such as Western Union).

Postage: Important note! Unless you choose Special Delivery / Airsure / insured / internationl recorded, if your parcel goes missing, the ONLY compensation you will receive from the Royal Mail is £41. If your order costs more than £41 it is therefore wise to avoid UK Recorded Delivery/ordinary airmail. Yes, insured/Special Delivery does cost more, but it's the more secure option.

The claims process for missing parcels can't begin until 15 working days after postage (UK) (10 working days for Special Delivery) or 25 working days after postage for non-UK addresses. If you are waiting for a parcel, please contact me. Please also check the method of payment used - sometimes people have asked where their order is and the order hadn't gone through to begin with.

UK customers: During check-out, you need to choose your postage option. UK customers can choose either recorded or special (guaranteed next day) delivery. The first item costs £4 Recorded Delivery plus £1 per extra item. Special Delivery costs £7, plus £1.50 per extra item. The main reason to choose Special Delivery is the high level of insurance it offers. It DOES NOT mean your order will arrive the day after you order it. See following note.

IMPORTANT: The next day guarantee is the Royal Mail's, not mine. If you need something urgently, then please email me first before ordering. I work full time at a different job during the day and post orders out the day after receiving them. Special Delivery is fast and insured, but you can't expect your order to arrive the very next day after you placed it. Also, the guarantee is for weekdays: eg. if you place an order on Thursday and choose Special Delivery it WILL NOT arrive on the Friday. It'll PROBABLY be posted on the Friday and it's guaranteed for Monday. Guaranteed Saturday is available for extra charge - please enquire.

EU customers: Items are sent by airmail for £5 for the first item and £12 for the first item sent by Airsure, which is insured with a tracking number. Each additional item costs £1.50. eg. two items sent by ordinary airmail is £6.50. Two items sent by insured airmail is £13.50.

International (excluding EU): All items are sent by ordinary airmail. The first item is £12, plus £1.50 per additional item. Please contact me at the time that you place this order if you want to have insured, trackable airmail. I will need you to pay a supplement for that postage option, but it varies depending on where you live. As a guide, Airsure is £4.90 and International Signed For is £4.25, then insurance is from £2 to £3 on top of that.

Returns Policy:

If you're not happy with an item you've bought from here (for whatever reason), please contact me as soon as possible. The item being returned must be in as-new condition to allow you to try it on at home for size and fit. Anything that's soiled or smelly will sent back to the customer without a refund. Items which have been worn out for a night on the town CANNOT be exchanged/returned/refunded. An exchange for the same item in a different size can be made, depending on availability. If this isn't possible because it's out of stock, an exchange for another item in the shop (allowing for extra payment or refund) can be made, or a total refund, but only if you let me know you want to return the item within seven days of receiving it (exceptions are made for postal strikes, holidays, illness etc.).

Important: You need to pay for the postage of the replacement item, charged at the usual prices mentioned above. This brings the returns policy into line with most online retailers. This doesn't apply if the item is faulty or there has been a mistake made with your order, in which case Pin-Up Parade will cover the cost of you posting the returned item. You can either enclose a (UK pound sterling) cheque or postal order with your returned item, (UK pound sterling) concealed cash or contact me to pay by Paypal or a (UK) bank transfer. International customers: Paypal only.

Washing & Fabric Care

All you need to do is exercise a bit of common sense. Manufacturers will recommend that any garment costing more than £20 should be dry cleaned - that's to cover themselves as *most* dry clean-only items can be hand-washed. Use warm (not hot) water. Some bengaline dresses don't like to be scrunched up lots while you wash them, otherwise they crease. Mode Merr state that their items shouldn't be machine washed as the elastic fibres can be damaged. If hand washing, test a small corner of the garment for colour fastness. If huge quantities of dye seem to gush out from a small piece of fabric, it's safest to have the item dry cleaned. Some customers report they can wash their items perfectly fine in the hand wash cycle of their washing machine. When ironing a garment, it's best to lay a towel on the ironing board first, and iron through a tea towel, perhaps on a gentle steam setting (you'll end up with flat tea towels too!). Just treat them gently. Unfortunately, anything other than dry cleaning is at your own risk - I really can't be held responsible for any damage caused by going against that general advice. Sorry.

Where's my order?

UK Special Delivery is guaranteed delivery on the day after posting, or you get a postage refund. The refund is from Royal Mail, so it can take a month to claim it.

UK First Class: not guaranteed next day delivery after day of posting, but usually does arrive that quickly. However, it can take longer!

Ring up your local delivery office: if you're not in when the postman comes, they're supposed to leave a card telling you so. Of course, this frequently DOES NOT HAPPEN! First of all, find out from me if I've sent your order out. If I have, then you MUST ring your local delivery office IMMEDIATELY. Otherwise the parcel will be returned to me, and I will need you to pay for postage again. With recorded delivery, you have only ONE WEEK from the time they tried to deliver it to contact them before they send it back to me. Bizarrely, it can then take a couple of weeks for the parcel to make its way back to me. Unfortunately this is out of my control!

Did your payment go through properly? If it's said "declined" then I haven't received payment. Although your bank will tell you that the money has left your account, it will be floating about in limbo for about 2 weeks. The reasoning behind this is as mysterious, annoying and unhelpful as when your postman doesn't leave a card for you. You can of course check with me to see if the money has gone through, but there's nothing I can do at my end, unfortunately.

Claims on items that have never arrived: The claims process for missing parcels can't begin until 15 working days after postage (UK) (10 working days for Special Delivery) or 25 working days after postage for non-UK addresses.

Other stuff:

Pin-Up Parade also sells things on Ebay. Click here to find auctions (please note there might not be any active auctions at the moment!).

If you have a question about an item before ordering, please let me know. I'm happy to get out my measuring tape! If you don't hear from me within 24 hours, try again as you might've ended up in my Spam folder.

Happy shopping!

Helen.

This shop wouldn't have been possible without the following people, so big thanks (in no particular order) to: Nicole Klein and all of The Hourglass Girls, Eightball, everyone at "Off The Wall", Steve Hooker and his rockabilly T-shirts, Katie at What Katie Did, my dad, Annabelle, Miss Matilda, Al Palooka and last but by no means least, the fabulous Bernie Dexter.
