Vintage Hairstyling: Retro Styles With Modern Techniques
by Lauren Rennells BACK IN STOCK! This is a fantastic book for anyone who's ever battled with curling tongs and wondered why they haven't come out the other end looking like Betty Grable. With clear, step-by-step instructions, Lauren explains, over 164 full colour pages, how to use tongs and different kinds of rollers and how to master the pin curl. Then she shows you how to achieve some fantastic 40s and 50s hairdos - victory rolls, waves and pompadours, the fake fringe (bangs) then more than twenty hairstyles called things like "The Vixen", "The Casino Wife" and "For The Boys." If that wasn't enough, there's tips on accessorising with scarves, flowers, snoods and hats, how to do a "Rosie Riveter" and then advice on how to achieve vinage make-up looks. All-in-all, this is an absolutely invaluable book for anyone wanting to compliment their vintage-style dress with a vintage-style 'do. Spiral bound, so can be laid out flat for ease of use while working from it. Price increase to reflect higher postage fees from America.

A Stitch in Time: Vintage Knitting & Crochet Patterns, 1920 - 1949. Vol 1
by Jane Waller & Susan Crawford 60 vintage knitting patterns in contemporary yarn based on Jane Waller's original 1972 publication. Ever been frustrated buying vintage knitting patterns on Ebay, wondering how you'll find a comparable yarn to Ardern's Star Sylko in size 3? I have! Never fear, because all patterns in A Stitch in Time have been adjusted to suit contemporary yarns and contemporary knitters with designs available to suit from a 30" to a 60" bust, and modern needle sizes are used, both mm and US. Colour photography throughout shows the finished products, some of which are modelled by Pin-Up Parade's very own Fleur De Guerre. The patterns include sweaters, 1910s/20s tops, bed jackets, cardigans, crocheted hats and scarves, gravity-defying puffed sleeves, 1940s dresses, gorgeous decorative collars and swimming costumes as well as camis. As well as "An Accessory For Your Spring Suit", "Made So Quickly, "Pinafore Jumper", and "Wear With A Summer Suit." 356 pages. Please note: This book is heavy (too heavy for 2nd class post!); to keep prices low, Recorded Delivery isn't used if the book is order by itself, but I get a proof of postage so that you're covered in case the book goes missing in the post. For EU customers - I will need to contact you for a postage supplement to cover costs before I can post it out. For overseas orders, the book will usually be sent by Surface Mail.

Set & Style: Retro Beauty Basics
by Stephanie Strowbridge Illustrated by Stephen Strowbridge Click the cover to see the table of contents. Rather than the myraid of hairstyles you'll find in Lauren Rennells' book, Stephanie Strowbridge's intention is to start you off with the basics. Taking you through the condition of your hair, Stephanie talks about what cut to choose, then explains the equipment you'll need and describes three basic sets for you to try. She outlines simple styles that you can easily achieve yourself and accessories to aid them (bunches, bangs, snoods, scarves etc), explains the mysteries of the 40s roll, and slips in an international directory of vintage hairdressers and make-up artists. Illustrated by Stephanie's husband, the line drawings are clear and professional so you can't go wrong! And photos of Hollywood celebrities of the past nestle against Stephanie's clients to demonstrate different looks. A really handy and well-explained starting point for anyone new to vintage hairstyling, as well as inspiring for those who've been styling their own hair for a while but maybe want to try out something slightly different. Click here to see the author at work, creating some pretty mean lookin' fingerwaves! £10 SOLD OUT!
